Job Summary

Specializes in the emergency diagnosis, surgical fixation, and reconstruction of severe musculoskeletal injuries, including high-energy fractures, pelvic/acetabular trauma, polytrauma, nonunions, and malunions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgical Care: Perform emergency and elective surgeries (ORIF, external fixation, intramedullary nailing, pelvic/acetabular reconstruction).
  • Trauma Call: Provide coverage for emergency rooms and trauma bays, treating limb-threatening emergencies (compartment syndrome, open fractures, vascular injury).
  • Patient Management: Direct inpatient rounding, ICU consultations, and outpatient follow-up care to optimize bone healing and rehabilitation.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate surgical timing and recovery plans with general trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, and critical care teams.
  • Compliance & Quality: Maintain clinical documentation, participate in Trauma Quality Improvement (QI) and M&M conferences, and mentor residents/fellows (if academic).
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Training: Accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency + Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Board Certification or Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS/AOBOS).
    • Current ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification.
